From oceans to autumn - The flood / The fall [EP]

Genre : Instrumental post-metal

Still very underground, From oceans to autumn is nonetheless one of the most interesting acts in the instrumental post-metal genre. This EP features two long tracks, with a strong ambient touch, mainly thanks to background guitars delivering kind of an hypnotizing sound. Not huge riffs or power chords here, things are more kept a soft way. What's quite unusual, is how bass is mostly set in the foreground, making both the songs very consistent and deep, to say the truth. Drumming lines move from ambient to fast. As a result, these tracks are mostly repetitive, but in a good way, catchy and relaxing. Worth a listen, for sure!

Introduction

Ethereal soundscapes is just one more blog that's about music. This one focuses on various kinds of ambient/atmospheric music, be it post-rock, neofolk, or black metal and some alternate genres such as post-metal, post-black or folk black. It mostly tries to stick to an underground scene, you don't want to learn about artists you already know, do you?

I won't give any marks as it'd be pointless, since I love all those albums and would rate them from 8 to 10 out of 10. I prefer using quick, to-the-point reviews that are easily read instead of blabbering a ton about music. Also, summarizing months of work and dedication with a number simply isn't my vision of reviewing. Still I will add, as much as possible, official links for streams, news and merch.
